> What Software Shortlist says about Plateau:

Plateau offers a comprehensive talent management system with learning management functionality and boasts of deployments as large as 500,000 users in a single organization.

Key strengths of Plateau LMS include:

  • Grows with your business
  • Integrates with other software
  • Well supported

Plateau's GUI provides rollover/pop ups/tooltips that provide you with more information about courses, learning items, and activities that allow you to not have to click a link to dive deeper.

It provides adaptive learning options so that you can have a pre-test for a course which, if the user passes, can allow users to test out of all or parts of the course. You get automatic messaging and iCalendar events when registering for a course. Users can see what number they are on the waitlist. All notifications support attachments. The tool allows for attaching requirements to a curricula which means that you can say, for example, the requirement is that you must take 1 of these 4 courses and as soon as you take 1 you meet the requirement OR you need to take 40 hours of training this year so once you take those 40 hours (regardless of the 500 electives you have) you've meet the requirement.

Plateau also provides commerce ability to charge training back to a department. For managing training content, Plateau provides iContent service and it has also partnered with 28 vendors so that you can purchase 3rd party courses without having to build a relationship with the vendor. You can also upload your own content to iContent and allow users from all over the world to pull content quickly.

Finally, Plateau has implemented levels 1, 2, and 3 from the Kirkpatrick model for evaluating training effectiveness in terms of achieving the business objectives. This provides quantitative assessment of how useful a particular training has been for the business.

Although this software offers a lot of functionality, you will find it is a premium priced solution. If you want to use iContent, there will be an additional charge.

The pricing is based on per user or perpetual license for each module. The system is broken into 4 modules that can be chosen based on the requirements. You'll be looking somewhere between $30-$60K per year per module (i.e., if you buy 3 modules it's $90-$180K depending on the number of users <1000 or >1000).
