> Review Summary: Moodle
"Open source, freeware, fully functional LMS with the capabilities of most commercial products."
> What the vendor says:
"Moodle is an Open Source Course Management System (CMS), also known as a Learning Management System (LMS) or a Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
Moodle has features that allow it to scale to very large deployments and hundreds of thousands of students, yet it can also be used for a primary school or an education hobbyist."

> What Software Shortlist says about
Moodle:
Moodle is a completely open source, free tool that provides enough functionality to meet the requirements for most small to medium sized businesses.
Key strengths of Moodle include:
- Low cost
- Integrates with other software
With Moodle, you don't "get what you paid for;" in fact, you get way more! As an open source software, there is a large user community that can be tapped into for support.
Compared to its competitors, Moodle isn't quite as easy to learn to use for instructors and administrators (this excluded students). I frequently fumbled through menus and options as I was trying to create courses and categories and enroll students. But, once you learn it, it's not difficult to use. Also, this is probably configurable if you have a Moodle developer, but the out-of-the-box icons for instructors and administrators are too small and the icons themselves
aren't as clear in terms of meaning as they should be.
When it comes to pricing, you can't beat Moodle. It's free!
